Our first event of the year is a salon event on May 20th, where we will explore the various shapes and forms in which art exists all around us, why it matters, and why we should all care. With an audience of 300, this event will be a smaller, more intimate affair, bringing to you a mix of live speakers and pre-recorded TED talks to offer a well-rounded, cross-industry understanding of art in today's world. In usual TEDxWanChai fashion, there will also be performances and poetry from a Peel Street Poet, and opportunities to meet the speakers, team and fellow attendees after the talks.
Hong Kong’s dominance as an international art capital is undeniable. With the March madness of the Art Month which brings the likes of the biggest and most well-known art fairs, exhibitions and players to our town, the city becomes entrenched in a busy calendar of social events and in mingling with the whos-who of these affairs. But art exists in many different forms, from visual arts to performing arts, from education and learning to activism and self-expression. The strength and culture of an entire nation or civilisation rests upon how rich its art is, and how people utilise and perceive it.
Your ticket includes a drink and free entry to the Affordable Art Fair (ticket price worth HK $120), being held at HKCEC from May 19-21.
